Learning Spanish in a group can be a great way to improve your communication skills, meet other people and make regular progress. At Speak Spanish Barcelona, we offer small-group Spanish classes online, in Barcelona and Garraf, with lessons designed and taught by professional Spanish teachers.

Our groups are not simply conversation sessions. We prepare each class carefully, adapt the content to the students and make sure that everyone has opportunities to participate, receive feedback and work towards their goals.

Why learn Spanish in a group?

One of the biggest advantages of learning Spanish in a small group is the number of opportunities you have for real communication.

But a group also brings something that individual lessons cannot always provide. You encounter different difficulties and perspectives. You learn from other people’s questions and mistakes, and you can support each other when something is challenging.

And, perhaps just as importantly, you don’t feel that you are learning Spanish alone.

For international residents in Barcelona or smaller places such as Vilanova i la Geltrú, Sitges or Sant Pere de Ribes, a Spanish group can also be a great way to meet new people.

And if you don’t have the time to travel to a class, our group Spanish classes online can be the perfect option for you.

Real practice, guided by a professional

A good group class combines structured language learning with real communication.

Speaking Spanish is essential if you want to become more confident, but learning a language is about much more than conversation.

Our group Spanish classes work on the four main language skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking. To develop these skills, you also need to build a solid foundation of grammar and vocabulary.

Our teachers prepare the lessons according to the group’s level and needs. We introduce relevant vocabulary and grammar, create opportunities to practise the four skills and provide a clear sequence from one class to the next.

At the same time, there is always room for spontaneous conversation, questions and the interests of the people in the group. In this sense, the learning process becomes something we build together.

This means you are not simply “speaking Spanish for an hour”. You are developing your Spanish in a balanced way, while still having plenty of opportunities to communicate and interact with other students.

Who are group Spanish classes for?

Our group classes are particularly suitable for people who:

– want to practise speaking Spanish regularly;
– can commit to at least two hours of Spanish per week;
– have a limited budget compared with private lessons;
– enjoy learning with other people;
– want a combination of structured learning and real conversation.

If you like the idea of practising Spanish with other people but don’t want a traditional classroom with a large number of students, small-group lessons can be a good middle ground between private classes and informal language exchanges.

How do our group Spanish classes work?

Face-to-face Spanish classes

Our face-to-face group Spanish classes in Barcelona and Garraf are organised around the students’ locations.
Depending on the group, we can teach at students’ homes or offices on a rotating basis. Since our groups are small, this can make it much easier to organise lessons between people who live or work relatively close to each other.

And don’t worry: we don’t randomly put strangers into someone’s home. Many of our groups are made up of people who already know each other — for example, two couples, friends or colleagues — although we can also help people who are looking to find other students to learn with.

Online Spanish classes

Our online group classes are taught via Zoom, with materials shared through Google Drive. This is particularly useful if you miss a lesson: you can check the material and catch up with what the group has been working on.

You can also contact your teacher by email if you have questions between classes.
